Amita Santra, M.A.- Graduate Associate

Title : Ms. Santra is an advanced doctoral candidate in the Neuropsychology program at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and has been under the mentorship of Jeffrey M. Halperin, Ph.D. for the past 5 years.

Education : Ms. Santra completed her undergraduate education in Psychology in 1997 and received a Master of Arts degree in Psychology in 2004 at Queens College.  

Her clinical and research interests mainly focus on the development of ADHD associated neurocognitive substrates and their roles in the manifestation of ADHD.   Her master thesis was on the early development of executive function during preschool years.   Her doctoral dissertation at the Queens College Preschool Project, which Ms. Santra is currently working on, focuses on the familial pattern of inhibitory control and working memory.   She has worked with a variety of patient groups with different psychological and neuropsychological disorders across a range of ages.   Her clinical work includes externships at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Winthrop University Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical College, St. Vincent's, and the Queens College Preschool Project.  

Professional Accomplishments and Interests:   Throughout graduate school, Ms. Santra has received several University Fellowships from the Graduate Center, CUNY, and an Edna Aimes Scholarship from Mental Health Association in New York State.   At the beginning of the year 2005, she also received the Minority Supplement grant for research (RO1) from National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).   Ms. Santra has taught undergraduate psychology classes and presented synopsis of preliminary research findings at several professional meetings.   She has also co-authored several published articles in scientific journals:
